NYC Gifted and Talented Program and Testing

Many Parents Still Wait on NYC Gifted and Talented Program Placement Emails and Letters

I’ve rec’d several comments/emails from parents who are still waiting on the placement emails for the NYC Gifted and Talented to see what school within district 2 NYC public school G&T program their child must be enrolled in by the end of this week.  We rec’d our G&T school placement for gifted and talented in NYC email at 1:22am Saturday morning (June 21). If you’re expecting your placement letter for gifted and talented New York City via email  and haven’t received it yet, you may want to check your SPAM/Junk folder to make sure it didn’t go there.  One parent indicated they called the gifted and talented at the NYC DOE on Friday and they were told the emails would go out in “batches” – whatever that means.  My guess would be all the placement emails for the NYC G&T program would be emailed out by now since it would be more than a few thousand emails total, if that.

You’d ONLY receive an email notice if you selected the NYC gifted and talented schools in order of preference online. It’s my understanding if you mailed in your request via US Postal Service you’d receive your notification of your child’s placement for gifted and talented NYC via US Mail but not via email. I don’t know the timeline (besides what’s on the NYC DOE site for gifted and talented) but I’d assume the letters were mailed out Friday (June 20).  Everyone should receive the gifted and talented NYC acceptance letter in the mail Monday or Tuesday of this coming week since everyone would located in NYC.  Even if you receive an email, you’ll ALSO receive the gifted and talented placement letter for NYC schools via US Mail.

If you have questions, I’d recommend emailing the DOE gifted and talented New York Cityto find out giftedandtalented@schools.nyc.gov. Or you can contact the DOE at Office of Student Enrollment – Room 415, 52 Chambers Street, New York, NY 10007.

If you have any questions, please call the Office of Student Enrollment at 212-374-4948
or the Office of Gifted and Talented Programs 212-374-5972.
