Hi present and future G&T parents in NYC!  The OLSAT test and Bracken test for NYC gifted and talented program begins in just 3 short weeks! It’s time to get your son or daughter ready with OLSAT practice test questions for the upcoming exams as we head into the January sprint.

As a reminder, the NYC DOE posted the dates of the exam on their web site.

  • January 8, 9, 22, 23, 29 & 30; February 5, 6, 12, & 13, 2011:  OLSAT/BSRA testing at selected sites for non‐public school children
  • May 2011:  Score reports and applications with available G&T sites communicated to eligible students
  • Late May 2011:  Applications Due
  • June 2011:  Placement offers communicated to families; families accept/decline placement offers

If you’d like to be added to my NYC gifted and talented newsletter or need OLSAT practice sample test questions let me know. I’ll email some samples to you. skipper646@gmail.com. Thanks – Michael

i did my RFT, and just double checked that it is listed as “submitted.” i saw the timeline that testing of public school kids starts jan 10… but when will we be notified of when our son will be tested? we went through this last year with my older son but i don’t remember, besideswhich we were at a different school then.

also – i’m pretty sure both my kids are color blind. last year, bizarrely enough, my eldest got 100% of the color questions right on the G+T test, as per the report we got. but he’s always seemed color blind and this year when his vision was tested at school he failed the colors. so, now i am wondering if i should have my younger son “officially” diagnosed as colorblind (if he is, indeed, mildly colorblind, but i’d be stunned if he’s not!) and if/how this should be communicated to the DOE with regard to his G+T testing. any thoughts?

thanks so much.
