The WPPSI or Wechsler Test is a standardized IQ assessment test that is used to measure the intelligence quotient of preschool aged children. Unlike many standardized tests for older students which are commonly administered in large groups in a classroom-like setting, the Wechsler test is usually given one-on-one. This methodology is used in order to ensure the young children who are more easily distracted are actually completing the test in its entirety and achieving the best and most accurate scores possible.
The WPPSI test, which actually stands for the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test, is a very visual IQ test, utilizing many pictures in its format in order to make it appropriate for children who are, as of yet, unable to read.
