There was a Christmas Show (oopppsss…holiday show) at PS 33 Chelsea Prep last week and it was simply amazing! Due to the overwhelming response from all the parents in both Gifted and Talented and general education the shows had to be divided up over 3 nights! The pre-K and kindergarten classes night one, 1st and second grades on night two and night three was the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades! Each night was standing room only. Next year they may have to have a separate night for each grade. I attended the last night with the 3rd-5th graders and it was an absolute joy to see all the children singing and dancing on the stage. I appreciate the inclusion of all religions and their perspectives but I do think the politic correctness has just gone too darn far. At the end of the show Principal Lindy made her announcement of every possible holiday imaginable to make sure all were covered. Of course the top 3 – Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza were mentioned and sung about during the show. There was mention of various other holidays at the end which did catch me off guard. For instance, Ramadan which was in July and Diwali in November which are fine with me but then the following were mentioned:

  • 3 Kings Day
  • Winter Solstice
  • Vegan lover day
  • Boxing day
  • Mother of the mitten trees day
  • Forefathers day

Seriously? This has gone way too far and the political correctness police need to chill out!

Here are a few videos from PS 33 Holiday Show in December 2013! From the 4th grade gifted and talented class with teacher Alison Ladman.
