I’ve received notification that parents got emails today from the NYC DOE on the OLSAT test results and the acceptance of their child into the NYC G&T program for the 2010-11 school year. Here’s the actual email parents received:
“We are pleased to inform you that your child meets the criteria for entry into a New York City Gifted and Talented (G&T) program, beginning in the 2010-2011 school year.You may view your score report and complete the G&T application online athttp://www.nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/applyonline“

Well, I’ve heard from some parents and they have yet to receive their notification. According to the DOE site the OLSAT test results were to be mailed today (Friday, April 16). Most likely the OLSAT results will arrive to everyone’s mailboxes by Monday or Tuesday of next week. As soon as I hear from my parent sources in NYC when they receive the NYC gifted and talented acceptance letter I’ll let everyone know. Continue reading

Below is an update from the NYC DOE regarding the gifted and talented program admissions calendar. According to the DOE site OLSAT test score reports will be mailed this Friday, April 16.
Gifted and Talented Email Update for April 9, 2010Gifted and Talented Admissions Calendar
Gifted and Talented (G&T) Score Reports and applications for eligible children will be mailed by Friday, April 16. The deadline for applying to elementary school Gifted and Talented programs is Friday, April 30. Gifted and Talented offers will be sent to families by Friday, June 4. Pre-registration for Gifted and Talented programs will occur at schools between June 7 and June 18, for families accepting their offer. Key Dates:
- April 16: G&T score reports and applications for eligible students mailed to families
- April 30: Deadline to apply to a G&T program
- June 4: Offer letters sent to families
- June 7 – June 18: Pre-registration for G&T programs takes places at elementary schools
